I am not married myself and I am hetro However I believe if you are married to whomever-- you should enjoy the rights Why not ?I believe there are only 12 states that recognize gay marriage.

My friend's niece got married to her partner in Hawaii last October. She is now planning to marry her again here in her home state of California.

I will keep my thoughts to myself, so as not to offend or incite a tirade on either side. It won't make any difference what I value, anyway.

Thanks! I think California is NOT a state that recognizes gay marriage. Your values matter to you but I think many people jump in with what they assume to be the CORRECT thing!

California's Prop 8 was shot down (sent back to the lower court that already had ruled it unconstitutional). This means that same sex marriage is legal in CA again. It was legal before Prop 8 so their laws revert back to the last law before Prop 8 went into effect. Once DOMA is removed from the US Constitution all same sex marriages will be recognized by the federal government.

The lawyers will be the benefactors of all of these new laws, as they will gain business..  But why not, I guess, but what was wrong with being discrete?  I would think it makes it more romantic when it is forbidden and behind closed doors, rather than in a parade down Main Street...  I have a gay brother, who has a partner, and they live their lives and do not bother others with any displays or billboards or parades!  In our company, they may hold hands, or give a peck on the cheek to greet, but otherwise discrete.  Neither tries to be the opposite sex, they both appear masculine and are professionals.  My brother has 3 kids, and 3 grand kids!

Those are the gay couples who do the most good. The loud, rude "paraders" wearing few clothes, turn people off. They defeat the whole purpose of wanting others to "understand and accept", the same as does any group who behaves badly. They do get attention, but it's all negative! Even when they do get their way, there is always a backlash. Watch for it!
