      Sorry, I am not taking this course. I have no idea what you are studying. What green plant? All green plants? Are you saying that green plants can no longer make their own food? Did your teacher tell you this?

        Green plants can make their own sugars by the action of sunlight on chloroplasts, but they also need water and minerals from the soil. Some plants can maufacture nitrogen from the bacteria that grow on root nodules, such as beans. A plant can't manufacture everything or  nothing else could exist on the planet.
