    adding salt after potoes are cooked is it the same as adding salt while boiling

    Potatoes absorb salt if cooked in boiling salted water, if you cannot take salt for health, or other reasons it is best not to salt the water, you can always add the amount of salt that you prefer at the end of cooking time, whereas if you add too much while cooking you can't take it out again.

    They taste much nicer if salt is added during cooking.....It doesn't have to be much

    Personally I always add salt during cooking but some people can't handle the salt for health reasons.

    You can use salt substitute if necessary. My mom used to cook with it for my dad. It tastes pretty much like salt.
