Anyone heard of the dance called the "choke" commonly danced in the Los Agelels area in the 50's?

This dance was a form of swing that was danced in the Highland Park area of Los Angeles and throughout East Los Angeles. It was mostly danced by the Hispanic populations but if you lived in any of these areas, no matter your ethnic background, you danced the choke.

Does anyone out there remember the dance and/or have any source of it's history?
