I sincerely don't know any person who wants to just give money to a university student (s)he doesn't know from Adam.  What makes you worth the investment?  What do you have to offer to a sponsor?  ****
Perhaps you should visit the Financial Aid office and see if you qualify for some assistance.  There may also be on-campus employment available, not to mention part time jobs off campus. You live in a university town....there has got to be a lot of commerce.
 
**** I have a friend who co-sponsors a bowler. The first thing the bowler does when he earns money in a tournament is pay the co-sponsors for their investment PLUS a percentage of the winnings. The bowler doesn't always place, but that's the gamble the co-sponsors take.
