Making your computer stream faster

Click "Start," click "Control Panel," then double click "Internet Options." On the General tab, click "Delete Temporary Internet Files." In the Delete Files box, click the box to check the "Delete All Offline Content," then click "OK."

Click "Start," click "Control Panel," then click "Display." In the Settings tab, click "Advanced," then go to the Troubleshoot tab. Disable hardware acceleration by dragging the slider as far left as it can go toward "None."

Open your media player, go to Options, then go to the Advanced tab. Find the Streaming Media Option, go into it, and then click "Change." Lower the buffer time of your player to a more adequate level of your choosing.

If you're still using dial-up, getting a better Internet connection will improve your video streaming. Dial-up is extremely slow and will not generally provide adequate Internet speeds. Cable or DSL connections offer faster Internet speeds that allow faster streaming speeds.

Close any extra programs that are running on your computer to ensure that you are allocating all of your computer's processing power to streaming. Downloads, other windows, and background applications can all affect the speed of your streaming.

Make sure that you are the only one using the network. If another computer is on the network and downloading or performing other functions that require high bandwidth use, this could slow your streaming speeds.

Add more memory to your computer by installing new RAM hardware. If your computer does not have enough memory, it will not be able to buffer or stream quickly.
