Verify that the iPad battery requires power by looking at the battery icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. If the icon is red, the iPad battery needs to be charged.

Attach the wide end of the included iPad data cable to the port at the bottom of the iPad screen.

Plug the USB end of the iPad data cable into an open USB port on your computer. The iPad's battery icon will change to reflect that it is in the charging state.

Plug the USB end of the iPad data cable into the included iPad AC adapter.

Plug the wide end of the iPad data cable into the port on the bottom of the iPad.

Plug the iPad AC adapter into a power outlet. The iPad's battery icon will change to reflect that the battery is charging.
