If you mean an automated message, yes, they can. You can ask them to take you off the automated calling list once you get back in touch with them. They are attempting to collect a debt, so they can call as many times as it takes to get in touch with you. Once they are able to talk to you, then you can ask them to remove you from the list if you agree to a payment plan to repay the debt.
