     OK, I just looked again and now it's changed. Apparently it is a rotating feature. Not sure how good that is.

    It's advertising. Lots of books for sale, etc. I've had it for about a week.

    Yes, akaQA gets paid every time someone uses it to search a subject matter. Like the dictionary, click it and you get links to different dictionaries. They get paid if you click a link. Still takes you to a dictionary.
