Go to your local auto radiator repair shop, they often dip in their acid bath tank. Realize that they will not guarantee that your glue joints will not come undone! I have had things dipped this way, great results, and cheap...

They do furniture?
some do, call first. I have had a door and four bar stools done. Two of the stools had glue come apart and I had to reglue the seats of them. No big deal. The acid eats all of the paint off, you just need to sand, wash and restain, or repaint. Back in the 70's it cost me $5 per stool, and $5 for the door, full size exterior door.
