So the witnesses is being held-up as the perpetrator by the perpetrator…..The police seem to do that whenever a crime is reported. That’s why folk tend to lawyer-up before talking to police. It’s very simple in fact. If you witness a crime, you were present when the crime was committed even if it was against you…..you are the #1 suspect as a criminal. Why look for anyone else? You were there, you saw what happened, you may have benefited by the crime in some way such as insurance fraud, a claim of loss for illegal purposes such as tax evasion. Whatever…case closed and the criminal is arrested and charged. Jail is a heart-beat away and the jury is in agreement with the police version.
The scenario has probably jailed more witnesses than perps and we have more folk in jail than any notion on the planet. Our police are so efficient.
If you witness a crime…take a movie of the event and the folk involved and post it on Facebook and anywhere else you can also….maybe. You could leave the scene immediately and not talk about it later.
If you witness a crime, and you are there to assist police in the arrest…you could be hunted by the perpetrator later. Nothing like living in fear.
