    Can the executor distribute funds from the deceased's account as long as there is sufficient monies left to pay creditors.

    If there is more than enough money to pay creditors, can the executor distribute some of the funds to family prior to the 6 month waiting period in New York state?

    No, all creditors have to be paid first, all taxes all outstanding IOUs. The probate court must be satisfied before money is given to people listed in the will.
