How do I go about taking possession of a vehicle that has not been paid for by the buyer

I own a vehicle and have someone that wanted to buy it, they said that would have all the money for the vehicle in a week. He has not paid the vehicle off as per our agreement. Every week after calling him he pays me some money. Well its been 5 weeks now and I want the money owed to me. Or I want to repo my vehicle. I still have the title in my name and my tags are still on the vehicle.

Call the law and report it as stolen. The police will not go and repo it for you.

Yup, I see it. Sometimes I think in a hurry. I answer a ton of questions per day. If the dude is not paying for it, then he stole it..that was my initial thought without taking the time to really think it through. That's why there's others here so they can catch mistakes ;)

If you did not write out a bill of sale and if you still have keys to the car, go and take it back. Legally it is still your car.

do not report it stolen. that's filing a false report. if you have the original papers, the MVA number is on the registration form. go to the dealer and have a new key made and then find the vehicle and take it. if it's locked up in a garage, you may need police to assist you. if it's on the street go to repo it and hide it.
