in addition to the "fracking process", you might be thinking of the word "frack".
That is a word invented by the sci-fi show Battlestar Galattica. An invented word in the 70s or 80s, because they could not curse on TV. A couple years ago, the new show used frack for anything and everything. Noun, pronoun, verb, adjective, adverb, the whole lot of tenses and tones.

Never heard this but it is probably derived from the word 'feck' which the Irish use as a substitute for an expletive.
