        thanx. so if the belt is off it would have the normal crank resistance when trying to turn? not free like other waterpumps that are seperate.

        If the crankshaft is not turning, you have a far greater problem than a bad water pump, I'm afraid.

        belt broke this morning which was in bad shape anyway. trying to determine if waterpump bad before ruining another belt. doesnt squall when running.

        If you can turn the water pump by hand, it is probaly not bad, WBMG
