    why does my washer overflow when it pumps the water out to spin?

    Sounds like you have a blockage somewhere.

    I would disconnect the drain hose, and blow into it to free up anything.  If that doesn't work, take out the filter, located in bottom, follow drain hose back.  Take it outside, and run the garden hose into it in reverse direction, this will back flush any debris from it. 

    Check up inside the washer where you discount the hose to see if lint and stuff might be in there to never hurts to look
