Some are good. One old lady (94) wants to adopt me.

some are a little bitter. They feel abandoned by their families.

One old lady who lives on her own is visited fortnightly by her daughter & son in law,but only if she gives them gas money. She is 92.

I do small jobs for these people & most of them are grateful, some to the point of tears. Most of them will engage me in conversation for as long as they can just to keep me there a while.Lonliness is a big issue with our elderly.

What am I talking about?I'm elderley now...bugger it!

Tommyh, your only as old as you feel.

Dolly. If your only as old as the one you feel I'm in big trouble. My wife is older than me by several months.LOL

Most of them are greatful, and we can in return learn a lot from them ,including good manners,

    hope things will get better,dolittle,

dead right Den.Plain old common courtesy is so important to the old folks.

    With what?  In what capacity?

No. A senior who still can't spell, is hopeless. They've had no interest in learning.

Yes. Don't listen to Ducks who just "quack" away and haven't a clue how to answer your question. :)

Four Times I tries to cross this old person across the road, and they wouldn't go.""

    hector5559

    Dollybird

Think that is Zimmer frame, not crutch,
    Tommyh

Maybe he didn't want to cross the road.Maybe he saw what happened to the chicken.
    hector5559

grabbing a simmer frame dontg seem so sexy,

I have had a lot of good experiences helping older adults.  Sadly it is how I hurt my neck and shoulder.

    hector5559

What on earth were you doing to them,??

    hector5559

    did you get any compesation?
    doolittle

    a bit for a while.
    hector5559

    Back trouble i guess,
    doolittle

Yup my entire spine and my hips- bummer!
    Tommyh

sadly it's a fairly common injury Doo.My wife suffers the same ailment from lifting our daughter.I'm the one who is supposeed to do the heavy work but she still tries to do it & it ain't getting any better.
    doolittle

My shoulder had been doing pretty well but it hurts again and my arm and hand are going numb- too much scar tissue to operate- or so they say. My hips go crazy in the cold weather as does my back- a few more months and it should subside...I got hurt in '06 had surgery on '07...I'm eating up my savings as hubby hasn't given me a dime- still waiting for the judges decision.....

I helped plenty of them when I worked as a nurse ( an LPN )   and I have taken senior citizens to their appts..and grocery shopping and what not....as a volunteer

Just holding doors for them and giving up my seat on a bus and subway. They were appreciative.
