(USA) The hospital should have given you the forms to fill out. For surgery, you will need a doctor to refer you unless you simply go through emergency and hope the ER doc determines that your condition is life threatening and requires immediate surgery.

answer was helpfull. but the hospital said because i have no way to pay, i need a referral to see a doctor at the hospital.
Find another hospital. If the hospital receives federal funding, they can not turn you away for lack of money. They can lose their federal funding if they do. What's the name of this hospital?
