I had a great OBGYN and he was male. My shrink at that time had me take Motrine (800mg) starting a week before my period and then through-out the cycle. It worked

I believe she needs a caring physician. She needs a new one!  I haven't found that female doctors are kinder and sweeter than male doctors. They are just doctors. However, after being with him, she might be more comfortable with a woman though.

Female doctors experience the cramping male doctors can not experience. This makes them more sympathetic. They have first hand knowledge.

The only thing that can help her is to get a female gynecologist who understands the cramping she is experiencing and what is causing it. (I'm assuming she has a male gyno or a less than sympathetic female gyno). There are pain medications and medical procedures that can help her. She needs a different gynecologist.
