    Which sentence is correct? 'I was sitting on the bench" or 'I was sat on the bench'?

    I was sitting on the bench

    'I was sitting on the bench' is a right sentence :)

    I was sitting on the bench.  to say I was sat on the bench is to imply someone or something placed you there.

    Sitting on the bench.  

    Doesn't "I was sat on the bench" sound awkward to you? 

    I was lying on the bench, then i sat on the bench, lol.

    What is incorrect is that I was sat on the bench.

    I was sitting on the bench is the correct english.
