The "other peron" is my seven year old granddaughter, so I need to tell my daughter-in-law how this works also. If it is too comploicated, should we both just take our laptops to Best Buy and pay them to set us up? Any ideas on how much that would cost.?.

Skype is a free service. You can connect with family and friends via text chat or free Skype to Skype calls. Skype is easy to install. Just click the download button and create an account with a user name of your choosing and a password. You will need a webcam for video chats. A microphone for voice calls (I recommend a headset with an attached microphone) and all people you want to connect with must have all these things too along with a Skype account. Once everyone has an account, they share their contact details with each other via e-mail. Then each would log into Skype and send a contact request through the program to each person who shared their contact details with them. Sounds confusing but it's not. It's really easy. Go here to download Skype http://beta.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-computer/. Choose the computer and operating system you have and make sure you download the free version.
