    3. What do the separate icons represent on the mode dial? They are quite different from my previous canon digital camera.
    What do the separate icons represent on the mode dial? They are quite different from my previous canon digital camera.

    Under the 'Auto' icon there is a red icon, followed by several others.  None look like the 'mountain'for landscapes or the 'face' for portrait.  Please explain what each one means.

        Thanks. I just discovered, that when I turn the camera on and shift the mode dial to each setting, the meaning e.g. Portrait or Discreet mode etc. appears on the screen of the camera. Eureka!
