Obtain a microphone that is compatible with your computer, and that will suit your particular needs, from conversations across the state to recording songs.

Locate the microphone port on your computer, usually it is in the back of your computer tower and is often pink. Plug the microphone cord in.

Go to your computer's Control Panel. Under the sound option, you can edit your microphone's properties. You can adjust the volume and other characters here. You are now set to use your microphone.
