With my medication mine is 132/90,I'm not 71,my Doc says it's fine.....Hey Ho...
    doolittle

Yeah, medication and pain change the normal

ROMOS; Maybe I should keep my mouth shut but I really think that’s a little high. There are medicines that will quickly lower it to 120/80. (Lower than that is even better)

High for me was 253/162 itsmee, I'm on meds and my doc is happy with me.

On reading further, I realized that I didn’t check the new charts. Pay no attention to me. I only play the part of a nurse on tv. : )

Wow Ro- your high was scarry high- I'm glad the meds help!!!!

Funny thing was, I felt OK,I was in for other tests and the nurse thought there was something wrong with her equipment,4 times she took my BP,4 times the same, she called the Doc immediately and he said I shouldn't be conscious, but, as I said,I felt OK, still do thankfully.

ROMOS, I only wish I was a tv actress. My mom had high blood pressure and I know how important it is to keep those numbers under control. Do you do anything special to keep it down or does the medicine do it? The answer to this could help a lot of people.

Just the meds itsmee,I'm still a naughty boy, I love my salt and like a drink occasionally.Got a hypertension clinic next week, I'll let you know how I do. :-)

Ro- new studies have shown that for most people salt intake doesn't matter (it does with people who ahve high BP's and heart probs. like congestive heart failure but it has more to do with salt leading people to retain fluid. (Just an FYI...). I have the opposite problem my sodium levels are always super low which is even worse for you. I eat some salty foods and packaged foods- don't know why it's always low...probably because I cook a lot and rarely add salt.

Here's a chart and some information.....

Hi, if you are having problems, please see a doctor.

According to the new classification. There is no change in what the BP should be according to age.
According to the new classification 129/79 in considered normal. 120-129/70-79 in considered pre hypertension

Anywhere between 120/75 to 133/90 is fine for most people, it's best to sit and rest for a while before you take it. The worst thing for blood pressure is getting wound up, stay calm, chill out.

Before my pain I was 100/50 now I'm 120's/low 90's- I don't like it at all but they say it's normalish. At one point it was 139/113 I had a cow! They just said I was obviously in a lot of pain (I told them to fix the pain before I had a stroke- they did nothing).
