I certainly wouldn't have accepted it, a fillet of beef is originally taken from the whole fillet, sounds like you have been given off cuts, demand to get one piece.

Yes I'm sure it is acceptable to sell fillet steak that way, but it was not how you wanted it.If you asked for a whole piece of fillet uncut, that is what you should have got.Maybe the butcher made up the weight with pieces added.

My guess too,Python. He should have informed him that he would have to do this to get the weight that you needed. This would have given him the chance to decide if you still wanted it that way. If you had ordered in advance, and were treated this way, time to find a new butcher!   Edit this comment

You get what you pay for. In this case, I wouldn't have questioned the butcher, I would have asked for a different cut......

I would insist on the filet being replaced.  If I wanted "Beef Nuggets", I'd have ordered them.  Stay away from those guys in the future;  They are NOT reputable.
