    what does gleaned mean

    I'm writing a research paper and the resources need to be    gleaned

    It is a term used in the Bible. When the harvesters would harvest the grain from a field, they would not go over it a second time to make sure they had all of the grain, they would leave it so that the poor coulod gather it to live on. Sometimes, they would leave the corners of the field uncut just to supply this grain for those who needed it. The poor could then go out and "glean" the left over grain. Check out the picture below.     I actually tried to change my photo and it wouldn't let me move the box thingy lol

    To obtain information in small amounts over a period of time


    Or to gather after harvest, to go over a field or area that has just been harvested and gather by hand any usable parts of the crop that remain
