There are any number of reasons you might be getting these; NO email address is safe and ANY of them can be hacked. Spammers send out 'test' emails to random versions of email addresses, or they buy them from sites where you bought something, etc.
DO NOT EVER respond to ANY message or email from somebody you do not know. This tells them the address is 'real' and they will then send it to other spammers, just making things worse. Turn ON your SpamGuard (under options) and mark any email that still manages to make it to your INBOX that you don't want - as SPAM - to put them into the Spam folder from then on. For messages, just BLOCK the people that are sending them - and SIGN OUT of your Messenger or set you status to OFF-LINE.
