    3. I have a brand new computer. I purchased from Staples the Lightroom 4 software. I had to go a "round-about" way to put in my redemption code to get my serial number. I was allowed to register from there. Now When I go back to the Lightroom 4 icon, it won't let me activate the software with my serial number. (Puts a big red x next to it.) What do I do to activate my software?

      Since you bought it brand new from Staples, I would suggest that they would be more than willing to walk you through it.  Just call and ask for their service department.
