    Lawn mower starts and stops

Why does my Briggs & Stratton push mower crank, runs about 5-6 seconds and then dies?

Check air filer to make sure it's clean. Try starting it with the air filter off. It it still wants to stall even with the air filter off, spray some carb cleaner around the carburetor and the choke and try again with the air filter on.

damn, you're right! Good thing you're around to fill in the gaps!!
Also check the float needle in the carburetor, it may be sticking in the closed position starving the motor of fuel. Check spark plug lead is not loose.

guys wtf you should let them know that taking a large blunt object and repetitively striking the mower into submission is a trick of the trade
ohhhhhh my guess is the spark plug its self, remove the lead and take out the spark plug ,two strokes tend to leave oil on the inside of the plug causing it to look black and preventing the spark from jumping the gap, wash it in fuel and dry it, a mild grade sand paper say 600 grit to 180 grit can be used to further clean the gap making sure that you dont widen the gap or decrees it by dropping it, blow all sand paper remaining on the plug off put it back in and try that , if after about 6 or so attempts to start it and u fail remove the plug and look at its condition, if wet or blackened clean and dry and try again

He has opened this question twice. In the second one he did say he had already changed the spark plug. Don't you hate when you do all that typing for nothing? LOL (sorry, not really laughing.....aww fk-it, yes I am...hehehehe)
Starting then stopping after a few seconds indicates it is not getting gas. A pin hole in the carburetor diaphram will cause this. Normally you would have a hard time getting it started if the spark plug was bad, but it is good policy to change it every year.

Can this cause a mower to get pregnant? Maybe that's why his mower is being so temperamental....there's a new little mower on the way?

Yep, and morning sickness follows soon after. Must only be used in afternoon/evenimg
