Connecting to Your Computer

Launch the iTunes program on your computer and click "Help" on the main menu. Scroll down and click "Check for updates." Close iTunes.

Connect your iPod to the computer using the supplied USB cable. Launch iTunes, which will display your iPod on the left panel.

Right-click your iPod in the iTunes program and click "Eject." Close iTunes and detach your player from the computer to unlock it.
Restoring your iPod

Connect your player to the computer and launch iTunes. Click your iPod on the left panel and click the "Summary" tab. Click "Restore."

Click "Backup" to save your current settings and select the restore option you want to use. Select Option 3 or 4 if you want to install the newest iPod software.

Follow the prompts to finish the restoration and rename your iPod to restore the default factory settings.
