      Manchester United Football Club was formed in 1878 as Newton Heath LYR Football Club by the Carriage and Wagon department of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway depot at Newton Heath.

        Manchester United Football Club was founded at 1878 as Newton Heath LYR Football Club in Newton Heath, which is an area within Manchester. The name of the club was changed to Manchester United in 1902 and was moved to Old Trafford in 1910
