While pregnant with my third child, I had gestational diabetes and took insulin injections before meals. What I remember most is the two times my blood sugar got too low. Very bad time.
If your blood sugar is fairly stable with your diabetic regimen, you already know what it is going to be in the morning. If you change the time and type of food you eat, it will affect your blood sugar.
Get in the habit of recording what and when you eat something and how it affects your blood sugar. If you notice that an extended period of time between your last meal and breakfast has a negative affect, plan a small bedtime snack. Don't go overboard on anything.
Best to discuss a course of action with your physician and diabetic control center.
