four wheel drive stopped working on my 2001 chevy pickup
my service four wheel drive light came on and the lights for my push button four wheel drive lights went out. now i have no clue what i am driving in whether it is four wheel drive, auto or 2wd. I took the switch board out of my wifes 2002 tahoe because it look the same and plugged it in and that didn't cure the problem any other ideas

The clutch pack might be burnt in the transfer case. Pull the plug and look at the fluid. If it is dark and smells like burnt clutches,they'll need to be replaced.

i don't see how the clutch packs would make it to where it doesn't show power to the control module. it's like the hole 4wd is shut off and the only thing i can find is 1 fuse that deals with it no relays which i thought was weird.
Then it could be something as simple as the button or something as dramatic as the computer. Instead of guessing, take it to a mechanic. At worse, you will be charged for the diagnosis but you may still be able to do the repair work yourself.
