Yes, NYC gets its water from the Catskill Mountains vie big water tunnels.
NYC has some of the best drinking water in the US,
I'm always amuses me when I see New Yorkers paying $1.50 for a 20 OZ bottle of water, that generally in not nearly as good as the water coming from their spigots, @ $4.70 a THOUSAND gallons. ;)
