Your speaker icon should be in the lower right corner of your screen.

Yes, it should be, but since I don't have sound I don't have an icon. How can I make my speaker work again?
There should be an a little triangle down there that you click on...inside it will say "show hidden icons".
Go to your start button, then control panel then hardware and sound, click sound and check your settings there.
