A National Weather Service Damage Assessment Team has confirmed that a tornado on Thursday touched down in Alabaster.
The tornado was ranked EF0, the weakest ranking on the Enhanced Fujita scale, and brought winds around 75 mph.
Damage was reported after the tornado touched down briefly near the intersection of Kent Dairy Road and Shelby County road 17, just north of Maylene. The tornado traveled a path of nearly four miles, ending on the east side of Interstate 65 near exit 238.

Numerous trees were snapped and uprooted, and three homes were damaged by falling trees.
Also, an EF1 tornado with 100 mph winds was responsible for damage in Lamar and Fayette counties, according to the National Weather Service.
The tornado touched down in far southeastern Lamar County and went northeast into Fayette County. Two homes and one business were damaged and five outbuildings were either damaged or destroyed.
No injuries were reported in either incident.
Thursday's tornado was the second this year for Shelby County, according to information found on the Web site of the Alabama Office of the State Climatologist. On Feb. 27, a tornado in Chelsea downed trees, power lines, and destroyed a gas station sign.
