You may need to replace or update the driver.
Go to:.
My Computer\Properties\Hardware
Click on the + sign by DVD\CD-ROM Drives and right click the CD unit. Click on "Update driver" or similar wording. See if that does it.
If not, go back to the above DVD\CD option and note the manufacturer.
Go to your computer company website (e.g. Dell) or the manufacturer of the CD\ROM (e.g. Lite-On) and download the driver for that unit..
