does computer i have have an internal 56 k modem? If not are most internal modems standard? Does this computer have a port to install an internal modem or do i need get an external modem? Dial up is all can get here.

There's no internal modem. Here are instructions on how to install one:

Unplug all cords and cables from the back of your computer. Most Emachine computers have easy-access towers, so you only need to remove the thumb screws and set them aside. Slide the panel off and set it aside as well.

Remove the old modem. The modem is secured with a single screw. Remove the screw and set it aside. Firmly grip the modem and pull it out. Discard the old modem.

Insert the new modem and press it firmly into place. Secure it with the screw that was holding the previous modem into place. Replace the panel and thumb screws. Reattach all cords and cables, then boot the system.

Insert the CD that came with the modem into your optical drive. This will automatically install the correct drivers for your new modem.
