There are some advantages in having an old Pope as they will not stay in office very long. On the other hand a young pope may be very reactionary and stay for years. It is a certainty that the Pope is manipulated by the Vatican heirarchy so the age of the Pope may be of no consequence. I await with interest the book by the Pope's butler, possibly the only honest man in the Vatican.
