There are various kinds of boards.....corporate, not-for-profit, for-profit, and all boards have different rules, responsibilities and liabilities. You should have received written information when you became a board member. If not, you should check with a corporate lawyer. Their first consultation is usually at no charge, but ask about that before you book an appointment.
