Chlorine and magnesium should never be mixed, as the reaction it causes can result in serious injury caused from flash burns. So, Epsom salt is not safe to use in a chlorinated hot tub. If you would like to introduce Epsom salt into your chlorinated hot tub, you’ll need to first drain and thoroughly rinse the tub and the tub’s equipment and refill with pure water instead.
