First and foremost RELAX. They are more scared of you than you are of them.If you have a snake in your yard, either call someone trained in their removal or stand at a safe distance and spray it with a garden hose. Snakes hate that and will leave quickly.

How do you know if it's dangerous or not? Go to "Google Images" and input " snake" with all of these colors and see what you find. You might be able to identify what kind it is. Where did you find it, California, Texas, Australia...?  Even small snakes can be deadly, if envenomed!
