I like gimp because of its versatility and cost. Proficiency in programing counts toward results especially an admiration of pythons. Commercial programs are generally not set up for extreme art rendering, So it depends on your aps and experience. So if you are going for worlds beyond the fifth dimension go for gimp, If you're a novice, go for gimp. Did I say I like Gimp?
