    my fridge/freezer's outer casing is getting warm even after defrosting

    If your fridge has no 'open' coils on the back of the unit, then the side that gets warm is the side where the coils are (between the inside box and the outside metal skin of the fridge.


    This is normal. Just keep the dust cleaned off the thing - if you pull the fridge out from the wall and look on the back, near the bottom, you'll see an opening. In that opening under the fridge, you'll probably see lots of DUST built up on the compressor, etc. Take a vacuum and remove as much of that dust as you can, as it hinders air flow and cooling on the compressor.


    If you have coils on the back, clean them too.


    A frost-free freezer actually uses heat from the compressor to 'melt' the frost off for a short period of time, so you might notice some heat on the surface of the box. Again, it's normal.
