How to update a TomTom
Instructions
1
Download the most recent version of the TomTom home software (see link in the Resources section). Double-click on the file once download is complete to launch the installer. Click Next to by-pass the Welcome screen, click "Install" to start the installation and finally "OK" when the install is complete. Reboot your computer.
2
Locate the USB port on your TomTom unit; this will be a small rectangular-ish port with two rounded indents. Insert the smaller end of your USB cable into this port. Then connect the other end to an open USB port on your computer; unlike the one on your TomTom, this will be a larger, strictly rectangular port. Finally, if your TomTom prompts you to connect to computer, click "Yes."
3
Run your recently installed TomTom home software if it did not run automatically. The software should check for updates automatically; if it does not, then click "Update My Device."
4
Log into your TomTom account, or create one if you do not have one. This account will keep track of your updates. All available updates will be shown on the next screen; click "Update and Install." Your updates will download and install; when complete, the software will let you know. Disconnect your TomTom from your computer at this time.
