so "jesus" had a wife! true or false ;-)

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2205235/Proof-Jesus-married-ancient-papyrus-mentions-son-God-spoke-wife-Mary-Magdalene.html

so all the people who devoted their life's to religion with abstinence from lustful temptations for the last 2000 years were wrong to deny themselves.

maybe if they had just got it on, we wouldn't be in the mess we are now!  ;-)

And I would care because....? "Messes" involve dozens of factors, not just one.

Ha ha ha...make love, not war.

Never was a truer word spoken.

    Priest weren't always celebate.

Can't remember when it was changed to that, though.

    Shootah

Are you sure you can't remember when?

The Bible talks of him attending weddings but not being in one.........

Does the fact that he did or didn't really have any bearing on anything relevant to life today? Does it?!

It shows, once again, that many religions got it wrong.

The incomplete manuscript, written in the ancient Egyptian Coptic language, has been studied by Karen King, Hollis professor of divinity at Harvard University, the oldest endowed academic seat in the US.
Professor King was to present a paper on the discovery today at an international conference on Coptic studies in Rome after conducting extensive tests and research to establish the document's authenticity.
She told Smithsonian Magazine that the fragment casts doubt 'on the whole Catholic claim of a celibate priesthood based on Jesus’ celibacy.'
She added: 'What this shows is that there were early Christians for whom ... sexual union in marriage could be an imitation of God’s creativity and generativity and it could be spiritually proper and appropriate.'

Dardaigh: I see what you are saying, agree, and thank you for your insight. It is, after all is said and done, another fine historical example of someone's mystic near equivalent to the 10 commandments, as having missed the mark and shot the priest. No doubt the brides of Christ have been duped by some ancient zealot also.
    Dardaigh

Exactly, Shootah. Couldn't have said it better myself!

Ahh..Shootah..."Best Answer". Some of the things that people argue about, are simply of no relevance whatsoever. If it isn't Jesus, it's some other religious "leader", a politician, a conspiracy theory. Tiring. (sigh) The final thought by everyone is "I'm right, you're wrong"! What a good reason to argue!

YES ..his bride is the church..

He may have been married, it would make sense. I would respect him for being so..........

"Ancient"???   That papyrus doesn't look "ancient" to me.  I don't believe that thing is authentic.

in reply to your comment,i will try to find and read the two books you list if you read "the god delusion" by richard dawkins ,we can then both of us open our minds.
    Bob/PKB

I will look for that book and read it.

Jesus was a rabbi, so it is almost certain that He was married , to Mary Magdalene.  The Vatican archives hold the answer to this and many other questions about Christianity, but dogma rules so we are kept in the dark.

    bowlesy

i suspect you are keep in the dark because the is no clear cut answers ,dogma rules.

We can't know for certain that Jesus was a rabbi, nor a carpenter because the bible does not make this clear. In the same way, we don't know if He had siblings, was married or was gay. One day these matters may be made clear but in the meantime we have the non-science of theology which confuses the issue further.

    false

the existence of jesus is somewhat cloudy at best ,a wife is even cloudier.

    Headless Man

    Why is it cloudy.......

"The Case for Faith" and "The Case for Christ" are two books I found very informative, factual and unbiased. For those open minded enough to pursue the implausible notion (s)he may be mistaken about the veracity of Jesus, I would recommend checking out either or both.

When Jesus was dying on the cross he looked at John and said (paraphrase) "This is your mother take care of her" refering to his Mom Mary.  I could see him referring to Mary M. as his "wife" and disciple- as an example of where Mary M. stood in his eyes (very important).

    doo, I don't get it.

It does not mater if He was married or not. Its not a sin to marry. He is still the Savior of the world and nothing will ever change that.

Married, lived a long semi-reclusive life, fathered multiple children, resided in a communal setting and eventually died at the age of 92 surrounded by friends, family ,children and grand children whose progeny live on to this day and will likely continue to the end of time.

who cares!! if he was married or not !  He still came back from the dead to show  us how we can go to heaven when we die. He told mankind that he took the penalty for our sins.

In the bible , in the crucifiction scene, it doesn't say anything about his wife being there. It says " Mary and her daughters came to observe it from afar. "  His earthly dad, Joseph was missing too. So, he must have been dead.

    morgannya, what's that mean ?

The question actually asks, 'True or False'. Mogrannya has a typo .... He believes that 'False' is the answer.
