Medications at first help to lessen the symptoms, and at at point a surgery which may be the replacement of the hip ball and socket, or just amputation of the ball from the femur. The dog will scar over, and may well walk with a limp, but this was the method before the appliances for hip replacement were developed. Consider breeds when you are thinking about buying a puppy, some breeds are almost certain to have hip dyspepsia.
