Central Alberta, found a baby bird.

This morning I found what appeared to be an injured baby bird. He has a small head a long narrow sharp orangish / brown beak. His markings are brown with white dots on his head and chest, and distinct stipes across his wings. He has very large, spindly long toes (almost the size of his body?). He has a large round shaped body with no apparent tail development. Any idea what type of bird he is / what to give it for food?

It may be a good idea to call a vet or humane society

    or wildlife centre for answers.
