Make Mozilla Firefox Your Default Browser
1
Download Firefox by going to Mozilla's website at http://www.mozilla.com. Click on the green "Download Firefox-Free" button. If you see a dialog box asking what to do with the file, click on "run" or "open." This will start the download and automatically install Firefox on your computer.
2
Open Firefox by double-clicking on its icon on your desktop or by clicking "Start, Programs, Mozilla Firefox" (in Microsoft Windows). Click on the "Tools" menu, then on "Options." In the Options dialog box, click to open the "Advanced" tab. Click on the "General" sub-tab.
3
Click the "Check Now" button under "Always check to see if Firefox is the default browser on startup." This will cause Firefox to check to see if it is already your default browser. If not, you will be presented with a dialog box, asking if you would like to make Firefox your default browser.
4
Click the "Yes" button in the dialog box. There will be a slight delay while Firefox configures itself to be your default browser, then this dialog box will automatically close. Click "OK" to close the Options panel.
