In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the
University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the
Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior: "A democracy is always
temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent
form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until
the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship."
"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:
From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage."
AS for my opinion, I believe we are at the last step on this sequence........JMO
I don't like cool aid that much either.........lol
I guess I've been told, haven't I?
"I find your methods embarrassing and annoying".
Have you looked at your other question yet? Even digger called you out on your repeated agendas (including the gays).
The lack of demonstrated empathy is possibly the most dysfunctional aspect of Asperger syndrome.[2] Individuals with AS experience difficulties in basic elements of social interaction, which may include a failure to develop friendships or to seek shared enjoyments or achievements with others (for example, showing others objects of interest), a lack of social or emotional reciprocity, and impaired nonverbal behaviors in areas such as eye contact, facial expression, posture, and gesture.[1]
People with AS may not be as withdrawn around others as those with other, more debilitating, forms of autism; they approach others, even if awkwardly. For example, a person with AS may engage in a one-sided, long-winded speech about a favorite topic, while misunderstanding or not recognizing the listener's feelings or reactions, such as a need for privacy or haste to leave.[8] This social awkwardness has been called "active but odd".[1] This failure to react appropriately to social interaction may appear as disregard for other people's feelings, and may come across as insensitive.

"failure to develop friendships or to seek shared enjoyments or achievements with others" ~ When was the last time anyone remembers Randy wishing someone here a happy birthday, a congrats on an achievement or a sympathetic message to one of the members who has lost a loved one?
" a person with AS may engage in a one-sided, long-winded speech about a favorite topic" ~ Long winded maybe but through use of others words. Hardly ever his own.
"while misunderstanding or not recognizing the listener's feelings or reactions" ~ <insert picture of Randy here>
"This failure to react appropriately to social interaction may appear as disregard for other people's feelings, and may come across as insensitive."
Wow, I have to agree MCM. He fits the description. He should get tested of he hasn't already done so.
People are tired of the hammering away at the same theme. This is also very abusive to the posters at this site.
People who do not see what is going on here have been gone for several months. It is tedious and ongoing.
(I SWEAR ON A STACK OF BIBLES, DEAR RANDY, THAT I AM POSTING OF MY OWN FREE WILL, MY WELL THOUGHT OUT OPINION, USING ENTIRELY MY OWN BRAIN, WITH NO OUTSIDE INFLUENCE FROM ANYONE, AND THAT I WILL NOW AND FOREVER FIND YOUR METHODS EMBARRASSING AND ANNOYING AND TRULY WISH THAT YOU WOULD LEARN HOW TO SPREAD YOUR BELIEFS WORLD WIDE (IF YOU SO CHOOSE) IN A LOVING AND KIND MANNER!) AMEN? YES, AMEN!!!

Dear Lord: The gods have been good to me. For the first time in my life, everything is absolutely perfect just the way it is. So here's the deal: You freeze everything the way it is, and I won't ask for anything more. If that is OK, please give me absolutely no sign. OK, deal. In gratitude, I present you this offering of cookies and milk. If you want me to eat them for you, give me no sign. Thy will be done.

Everyone here knows that Randy has strong religious convictions. The moment he asks or comments on an issue, it automatically is assumed that he is attempting to make a religious statement by way of the back door. I read the question and still see nothing religion specific in the question. He expressed his opinion as to the path this and many other civilzations have taken and fallen in ruin too. I agree with him.

A guest post from Stewart Browne, who blogs at Scarecrow For President.
The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through this sequence:
From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to selfishness;
From selfishness to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.

How can you not believe the Bible?
Is Tim Tebow a message from God?
Why must gays insist that there union be called a marriage?
If you ask a Religious question, why do you get a TD even if your answer is correct?
How come people get upset when you say God or Jesus
The 10 commandments, are they outdated, how would you change any of them?
OK, educated atheist, make your case....

Not sure why the spaces are there. I tried to fix them but it came up the same way.
You would be much happier at a religious site. You could start threads and debate to your hearts content.
People get tired of the same subject from posters. It is like they are ramming their agenda down your throat.
Funnily enough, another poster at this site comes to mind also. Both of you have one track minds.
Civilization does not cycle through a sequence but to fail miserably into ashes, but to rise again. We are advancing and there are problems that we have to handle. These problems can be solved by simple methods without going to radical extremes and destructive purges. Problems arise when they are chosen rather than loving, honest and open ways.
